This is disgusting on so many levels. "We can't actually make films with Asians, but we can hire Asian singers to entice Asians to buy our film-related merchandise. You matter to us; as long as no one has to look at you, we dub and cut up your films, and we fill Mulan with silly ancestor ghosts partying with Eddie Murphy." What is Asian about the "Asian version"? It isn't in an Asian language. I'm betting the singers aren't even fluent in an Asian tongue. Conclusion: it's an "Asian version" because the singers are Asian American. Make a "Black version". See how well that goes over with the NAACP. Why bother having diversity in your films when you can make second-rate ethnic knock-offs to market to each group?
After an IMDB check, I give the Filipina credit for being in Tagalog-language TV shows. When Disney puts a Tagalog version on their normal soundtrack, I'll back off. Slightly.
nikki gil also does "I Gotta Go My Own Way" From HSM2.
i guess they are the asian vocalists for the franchise.
